English Translation of Page 1

In the name of God, The Merciful and The Beneficent
In the name of God, I will stand up and sing the deeds of that woman
No one ever praised or celebrated her amazing deeds
The woman is Sokhna Ndioba, the good one who blessed us
The one who gave us the favor we have and gave us Serigne Cheikh
This woman of ours is the one who founded Darou Karim
She nurtured hospitality and spiritual training (Tarbiyya)
When you came to her, you could see that the Murids there were all content
I counted the number of the Murids who came there and they were 1000
I counted three and four times and they were 1000
The women there and she were courageous and performed amazing deeds
They did everything so that their offspring may have everything
The list of these women includes Sokhna Yaye Sèye Lo, Lahat’s mother
She was wealthy, courteous and had everything
Look at Soxna Nogaye Kane, the courageous, and the gifted
She has Sokhna Magat Mbacke and our mother Sokhna Magat whose last name is Dia
Please bless us with your favors in the Judgment day
Sokhna Amy, the special who left us
May you last in this world and take care of her progeny before you leave us
See Sokhna Sèye invested her gifts and the work of the town and servants
In the service of Serigne Cheikh Modou Fati
May she be rewarded with the paradise of Firdawsi, the best paradise
She was called Fatou Samb, the mother of Arame and Bara,
The heir of our father Bara and Maharame
I praise also the woman called Soda of Dial ba, and her home
And Sokhna Anta Ja of Këyël, the blessed one
Go back to Touba and see the deeds of our mother Oumou
And the mother of all called Nare Kane, the blessed one
I thank this leader, the best of fathers
Sokhna Mbène, God has made your children the best!
